Thales Day

People mingle as the music plays after a debate about the post-truth society.
Thales Day at the The Round Tower in Copenhagen, May 2017

In 2015 I initiated the annual celebration known as Thales Day in collaboration with Europe's oldest functioning observatory and a cultural icon of my home country of Denmark, The Round Tower in Copenhagen. Thales Day is the world's first and only annual celebration of the tradition of philosophy and science. Taking as its outset the stories told about the common origin of philosophy and science, I believe Thales Day is ideally suited to remind us of the values of critical thinking and rational inquiry. These values are at the foundation of modern civilization and its ideals of knowledge, prosperity and peaceful coexistence. For this reason I believe Thales Day has potential to become a public holiday with international appeal.

Read about why Thales Day is celebrated on May 28 and watch videos from previous events at the official Thales Day homepage:

Medical science

Advising a group of veterinarians and veterinary assistants.

I helped introduced the subject of communication to the Danish veterinary industry. I am the only person to have written scholarly articles on the subject of Veterinary Communication in Denmark, and I named the subject in Danish and introduced new methods. It may sound like a niche but communication is amongst the most important subjects within both veterinary medicine and human medicine, and the two disciplines greatly overlap. Therefore I aim to transfer my methods to human medicine and thereby contribute to enhancing medical outcome in human medicine as well.
